For most Staten Islanders, the new Empire Outlets has been long awaited. This fall, more than 70% of storefronts have been leased and most projects will be completed. You will find stores Nordstrom Rack, H&M, Gap Factory, Banana Republic, Old Navy and now Levi’s.
Joseph Ferrara, principal of BFC Partners and Empire Outlets developer stated, “There will be some spaces that will be programmed with a pop-up type of scenarios, just because there are leases we are negotiating right now. And with the length of time retailers need to build out those spaces, they just won’t get there for the opening of the center”.
There will be an array of eateries according to Silive. The food and beverage deck will hold names such as Shake Shack, Wasabi Steak & Sushi, Mighty Quinn’s Barbeque, Mamoun’s Falafel, Artichoke Basille’s Pizza and Nathan’s Famous Hot Dogs.
The expected date set to open Fall of 2018.

MTA New Bus Plans
Despite having a new and improved bus route, Staten Islanders are having a tough time acclimating to the new SIM bus routes. According to SIlives video, the routes may only be four stops but will have a long wait as many riders will be at each stop. There are many commuters who feel that this has taken more time out of their morning commute as well. The MTA is consistently working to improve their new routes.
